MEL is developing a distributed Canadian innovation, commercialization, validation and deployment ecosystem.

Each regional Centre of Excellence is shaped by its region's strengths, infrastructure, supply chains, research capacity and SME needs. RiSE, AiDE and iDE connect the Centres through one shared MEL framework, allowing regional knowledge and commercial opportunities to move across provinces while remaining rooted in local communities.

A MEL Centre of Excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador can connect these strengths with research, education, business development, technology, advanced manufacturing, commercialization and dual-purpose innovation through the wider MEL ecosystem.

Facilities, equipment and capabilities will be determined through consultation with SMEs, researchers, industry, municipalities and strategic partners.
